Job Description

Founded in 2007, the Bipartisan Policy Center and its advocacy affiliate, BPC Action, are unique in their approach to solving the nation’s most pressing issues. As the only organization working across the full political spectrum on domestic issues, BPC brings together diverse perspectives to craft solutions that lower the everyday cost of living for families, expand opportunities, and strengthen the American economy. BPC Action works directly with legislators and other policymakers to turn those solutions into impactful results.

What sets us apart is our ability to operate at the intersection of policy development and political advocacy, building consensus across the aisle to advance reforms in Congress. For more than 20 years, BPC and BPC Action have consistently achieved results on complex issues, demonstrating that working together with both parties is not only possible but essential to achieve results.

We are trusted leaders in cutting through the division and creating common ground to solve the problems Americans care about most. We are an indispensable force to produce results in Washington and beyond.

Ideas
BPC recruits respected policy experts, former Hill and Administration staff, and private sector leaders to drive our core programs. We engage current and former policymakers, CEOs and business leaders, and leading policy experts to work together with our nation’s leaders to generate solutions to America’s challenges.

Action
Policy development is only the beginning of BPC’s work. Our advocacy affiliate, BPC Action, advances legislation by providing political and technical assistance, identifying and supporting legislative champions, and leveraging key relationships to support members of Congress working together to enact solutions and produce results for Americans.

Results
In 2025, BPC and BPC Action mobilized to introduce over 120 bills in the House and Senate and helped advance over 40 bills beyond committee. We met with over half of all congressional offices, expanding our reach to both parties.

We are seeking a talented and motivated Development Coordinator to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for a newer development professional looking to build a career in nonprofit fundraising. The Development Coordinator will provide essential support across all three of BPC’s fundraising portfolios—corporate, foundation, and individual giving—gaining broad exposure to the full development function and a strong foundation for long-term career growth in the field.

About the Development Team

In support of BPC’s mission, organizational strategy, and priorities, the BPC Development Team leads, executes, and tracks all of BPC’s external fundraising and revenue generation, and stewards funding relationships. Instilling a culture of fundraising, business development, and donor stewardship throughout the organization, the development team identifies, builds, and maintains donor relationships; ensures fundraising efforts align with BPC’s strategy; exemplifies cross-organizational collaboration; meets fundraising targets; and achieves excellence.

As a development team, we will:

  • Leverage all BPC networks to represent the organization positively and professionally in development and engagement efforts
  • Increase, diversify, and sustain BPC’s donor base that supports an enterprise-wide strategy for revenue generation and sustainability; assess impact; and meet milestones to revenue growth
  • Work closely with program teams to develop strategies for engagement with new funders
  • Establish, operate, and monitor effective fundraising systems and ensure data integrity via donor data tracking, donor reports, and donor recognition
  • With finance, strategy, and leadership colleagues, develop external revenue projections
  • Achieve high standards of performance in project planning, use of systems, tools, and resources, and a working environment conducive to teamwork, continuous learning, and innovation

Responsibilities

85% of time

  • Coordinate and manage donor correspondence across all portfolios—corporate, foundation, and individual giving—including donation acknowledgments and fundraising outreach on behalf of the Managing Director and the Development team
  • Provide administrative and coordination support for the Development team across corporate, foundation, and individual giving portfolios, including planning and executing meetings and events (e.g., coordinating calendars, preparing materials, taking and distributing notes, and coordinating follow-up activities)
  • Manage Development records and CRM data integrity, including constituent information in Salesforce and team files in SharePoint, ensuring accurate and up-to-date tracking across all portfolios
  • Conduct and compile prospect research on current and prospective donors across corporate, foundation, and individual giving portfolios, including creating briefing materials for BPC’s senior executives and preparing materials for donor meetings
  • Support the foundations portfolio with grant report coordination, including tracking deadlines, assembling required materials, and assisting with report submissions
  • Assist the corporate portfolio with invoice tracking and coordination for corporate renewals and sponsorship packages
  • Organize the monthly prospect meeting and track pipeline movement, liaising with portfolio leads on a regular basis to ensure opportunities are current and next steps are documented
  • Other duties as assigned

15% of time

  • Represent the Development team at BPC events, including summits and convenings such as the Housing Summit, supporting donor engagement and relationship stewardship on-site
  • Assist with material support for Development events and roundtables in Washington and across the country, including preparing materials and tracking RSVPs
  • Stay current on fundraising industry best practices by regularly reading relevant publications, attending webinars, and sharing key takeaways with the team

Qualifications

  • 1 to 2 years of fundraising experience, preferably at a nonprofit organization
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Microsoft Excel and Outlook; knowledge of or willingness to learn Salesforce
  • Familiarity with fundraising processes and tools, including CRM software and wealth screening software
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct research, compile findings, and synthesize information for a lay audience
  • Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills; ability to drive projects independently and collaborate with a team
  • Proven organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects and tasks while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive donor, political, and organizational strategy information
  • Commitment to BPC’s mission and ability to translate that passion into compelling written communications for donors and stakeholders
