Job Description

Position Scope

Reporting to the Neighborhood Supervisor and/or Neighborhood Lead, the incumbent will align their work with the Mission, Vision, Values, Standards, Policies, Procedures, and Philosophy of Care at The Meadows.

The CCA/PCW provides a full range of high-quality, resident-focused support, including personal care, light housekeeping, meal preparation, and participation in recreational and daily living activities within a homelike environment. As part of a “house team,” this role may also include shared responsibility for the care of facility pets.

This position requires flexibility in scheduling, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and short-notice or call-in shifts. The successful candidate will demonstrate a positive attitude and contribute to a respectful, collaborative, and supportive work environment.

What You Need to Have
  • Current registration with the NS CCA Registry (or Conditional Registration for PCWs, with commitment to achieve full CCA certification within 3 years of employment)
  • CCA Certification in Nova Scotia or eligibility under the NS Educational Requirements for Entry to Practice Guidelines for LTC
  • A genuine passion for working with individuals with cognitive impairments, demonstrating compassion and sensitivity to their emotional, physical, spiritual, intellectual, and social needs, in alignment with our person-centered philosophy and vision of Enriching Lives Daily
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build respectful and trusting relationships with Residents, families, and team members
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment
  • Sound judgment, organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize and manage workload
  • Reliable attendance and the ability to perform the physical demands of the role (lifting, bending, stretching)
  • Professionalism, confidentiality, and a willingness to participate in ongoing education and development

Required (or willingness to obtain):

  • CPR Certification
  • GPA, Dementia Care Training
  • Non-Crisis Intervention
What We Would Love You to Have
  • Recent experience working with individuals living with dementia
  • Basic computer skills
  • Experience working in a long-term care or similar setting
Additional Information
  • As a member of the house team, employees are expected to participate in team-building, neighborhood training, and shared responsibilities, including pet care
  • Offers of employment are conditional upon receipt of a satisfactory Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check
  • Preference will be given to Certified CCAs currently registered with the NS CCA Registry
