This position is contingent upon contract award.

The Welder Combination Maintenance position will support barge berthing and messing facility operations. This role performs structural, mechanical, and piping repairs using multiple welding processes and assists with general maintenance for habitability, galley/messing systems, berthing structures, and marine support equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

· Performs welding duties on light, heavy gauge and hardened metals using flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions.

· Performs welding processes such as preheating, brazing, beat welding, tack welding, flame cutting, pressure welding and heat-treating.

· Performs supporting repairs for machinist tasks.

· Performs supporting repairs for pipefitter and plumbing tasks.

· Assists with the cleaning and sanitization duties for interior and exterior surfaces of the barge.

· Clean, gas free safe for entry and hot work, inspect and test CHT system, replacing 4 floats per system (YR, YRBM, YRBM(L), and all APLs except for APL-61).

· Clean, gas free safe for entry and hot work, inspect and test CHT system, replacing 4 floats per system (APL-61).

· Clean, gas free safe for entry and hot work, inspect and test CHT system, replacing 3 floats per system (APL-67, 71, 73 Class).

· Clean, gas free safe for entry and hot work, and air test tanks and voids. (APL-67, 71, 73 Class).

· Clean, gas free safe for entry and hot work, and air test tanks and voids.

· Accomplish a preliminary and final visual and operational inspection of all systems and equipment utilizing barge systems and equipment check off list (BSEC). Submit a detailed report of all discrepancies.

· Performs the following miscellaneous repairs and replacement:

  • Replace decking or bulkhead plating (15.3# O.S.)
  • Replace hull plating (20.4# O.S.)
  • Replace support structure (6" x 4" x 1/4" tee bar, O.S.)
  • Replace handrail
  • Replace handrail safety chain (3/8” chain to include shackle on each end)
Requirements:

Required Education and Experience

  • High School or GED mandatory
  • Active DoD Personnel Security Clearance
  • 5+ years of experience in welding and metal fabrication in marine or industrial environments on multiple metal types.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in multiple welding positions and processes such as Sheet Metal Arc Welding (SMAW), Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW), Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) and fabrication.
  • Proficient in tag out procedures and hot work requirements per OSHA and NAVSEA standards.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Technical/professional welding certifications.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • As Required.

Security Responsibilities

  • Eligible and obtain a DoD Personnel Security Clearance.
  • Must comply with all company Information Systems security policies and procedures.
  • May be responsible for proper classification and marking of all information and materials. Employee shall not divulge any information, or afford access to other employees not having a need-to-know authorization. Shall not divulge information outside the company without management approval. Will be required to execute company non-disclosure agreement prior to access to any controlled information.

Language Skills

Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language. Must have the ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex words and technical documents/diagrams.

Must be able to effectively communicate orally and in writing and work effectively as part of a team.

Reasoning Ability and Mathematical Skills

Must be able to analyze problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. An ability to interpret complex customer requirements and attitudes from verbal, non-verbal, and written communication is desirable. Must be able to calculate figures and numbers, and percentages and be able to draw and interpret graphs. Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and drawings.

  • Will be working in areas with risk of injury from electrical applications, moving mechanical parts, hydraulic, or pneumatic systems under pressure and electrical motion systems.
  • May be exposed to conditions of extreme heat, airborne particles, and loud noises.
