Purchasing Specialist in Machias, Maine at Viking Inc

BASIC FUNCTION:

The Purchasing Specialist is responsible for sourcing, purchasing, and maintaining inventory levels of hardware, tools, plumbing, electrical, paint, and other store merchandise. This role works closely with vendors, and store management to ensure products are available when needed while maintaining cost efficiency and supporting sales goals.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Purchase inventory based on sales trends, seasonal demand, and inventory levels

-Create and process purchase orders accurately and in a timely manner

-Monitor inventory levels to prevent stock shortages and overstock situations

-Receive, put away and keep shelves stocked and fronted with back stock

-Resolve issues involving damaged or incorrect products with suppliers

-Inventory counts

-Assist customers with sales, process orders, etc

Qualifications:

-High school diploma or equivalent

-2+ years of purchasing, inventory, and retail experience

-Strong knowledge of hardware products, tools, plumbing, electrical, paint and building materials preferred

-Strong computer and communication skills

45-50 hrs per week
