Job Description

The Business Analyst serves as the primary liaison between association business units and the IT team for all matters related to the Salesforce and Fonteva platform. This role captures business needs, analyzes them, and translates them into functional requirements and executable Salesforce/Fonteva work items, identifies opportunities to leverage native Salesforce/Fonteva configuration and capabilities, and produces clear design specifications for customizations that require development. By owning the business analysis and intake-to-ready backlog process, this role reduces the Director’s involvement in day-to-day requirements gathering, clarification, and task definition, allowing more time for strategic oversight and higher-value work by Salesforce admins and developers.

Key Responsibilities

· Partner with membership, events, education, marketing, and finance teams to gather, document, and prioritize business requirements related to Salesforce/Fonteva.

· Evaluate whether requirements can be met through native configuration (flows, page layouts, validation rules, reports/dashboards, Fonteva product/order/subscription setup) versus custom development.

· Design detailed functional specifications, process flows, user stories, acceptance criteria, configuration notes, data considerations, and developer/admin-ready tasks for the IT/development team when builds or configuration changes are required.

· Facilitate discovery workshops and stakeholder interviews to map current-state processes and define future-state solutions.

· Maintain and evolve the org's data model, object relationships, and business rules documentation as they relate to membership, events, and commerce (Fonteva).

· Support UAT planning and execution, ensuring delivered solutions meet documented business needs.

· Identify opportunities for process improvement and platform optimization across departments.

· Maintain a working knowledge of Salesforce releases and Fonteva product updates to proactively advise stakeholders on new capabilities.

· Create and maintain business requirement documents (BRDs), process maps, and configuration/customization specs.

· Translate approved business needs into well-defined Salesforce/Fonteva backlog items, including user stories, acceptance criteria, dependencies, configuration guidance, and developer/admin handoff details.

Required Qualifications

· 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst supporting a Salesforce implementation; association or nonprofit experience strongly preferred.

· Direct experience with Fonteva (membership, events, and/or commerce modules) or comparable AMS/Salesforce-native platform.

· Strong understanding of Salesforce declarative capabilities (Flow, validation rules, permission sets, reports/dashboards) sufficient to distinguish configuration from custom development.

· Demonstrated ability to translate business requirements into clear, developer/admin-ready specifications, backlog items, and acceptance criteria.

· Excellent facilitation, interviewing, and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical audiences.

· Strong written documentation skills (BRDs, user stories, process diagrams).

Preferred Qualifications

· Salesforce Administrator certification.

· Familiarity with association business models (membership dues, certifications, events, chapters).

· Experience with agile/scrum delivery methodologies and backlog management tools (e.g., Jira, Azure DevOps).

Success Metrics

· Requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria are complete enough for Salesforce admins and developers to build without significant rework or repeated clarification.

· Increased use of native configuration vs. custom code where appropriate.

· Stakeholder satisfaction with solution fit and delivery timelines.

· Reduced Director time spent on business analysis, requirements clarification, and Salesforce/Fonteva task definition.

· Increased percentage of Salesforce/Fonteva requests entering sprint planning with complete scope, acceptance criteria, dependencies, and assigned admin/developer tasks.

· Fewer clarification loops between business stakeholders, Salesforce admins, and developers after work enters the delivery backlog.
