Essential Responsibilities:
- Maintain an acceptable delinquency rate of 3.0% or below in our collection goals-works certain accounts and all major retailers
- Manage every aspect of a credit services department from staffing to efficiencies to order release, back up on new accounts, and does own collections
- Work final demand letters received from credit reps to determine collectability or whether these get turned over to an outside agency for collection. Review legal files turned over to outside agencies with help of operations assistant
- Resolve account discrepancies with regards to discount and pricing and prepare credit memos when necessary. Approve all credit memos over certain dollar amounts from different departments.
- Manage sales tax as it relates to orders, including any state tax audits.
- Work with major retailers, sales Managers and sales reps on various issues accounts i.e.: credit line issues, past due issues, credit memo problems, and new ideas.
- Handle all month end closing for credit; i.e.: aging’s, agency aging uploads, debit memo reports, running statements if falls on the first of the month, critical list and others. Work with CFO or controller on specific reserves and advise on past dues over certain limits
- Keep up to date on the current laws of credit and collections. Advise CEO, CFO and sales managers what is acceptable and what is not.
Education/Skills Qualifications:
10+ years of credit, commercial collections, and management experience required, to include experience working with large retailers, vendor compliance issues, returns/credit memos, vendor forms, sales tax, compliance forms, credit card charges and security measures.
1. Proficient in excel and word
2. Must know commercial credit laws and rules.
3. Ability to learn various computer programs i.e.: D365, Sales Force, Bill trust, etc.
4. Financial statement analysis skills.
5. Accounting knowledge very helpful.
6. NACM or NACS group experience helpful along with other credit reporting services
7. Ability to work well with all forms of management and sales.
