Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- Effectively manages personnel to include staffing, conflict resolution training and competency development and annual performance evaluations.
- Demonstrates sound financial management to include monitoring of budget, inventory control and cost efficiency/cost savings projects.
- Effectively communicates with staff and builds rapport through staff meetings, education/training, interdepartmental activities, community service and customer relations.
- Performs microscopic screening of gynecologic, non-gynecologic, and Fine Needle Aspirate (FNA) slide preparations, for the detection of precancerous and cancerous conditions.
- Provides assistance and adequacy assessment on Fine Needle Aspirate procedures.
- Writes and maintains current work instructions. Assist with development, maintenance and control of policies and procedures.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable regulatory agencies for inspection readiness.
- Fulfills responsibilities for CLIA position as assigned.
- Participates in the quality improvement requirements of the laboratory’s quality management system.
- Participates in proficiency testing activities.
- Assists with collection and reporting of quality data.
- Responsible for technical consultation and problem resolution.
- Stays current with new technologies and makes recommendations to management for improvements.
Qualifications:
Bachelors Degree in Cytotechnology. Registered by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) with four years experience. Supervisory skills required.
