Job Description
This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Employment Counsel in India.
This role sits at the intersection of global employment law, cross-border HR strategy, and high-growth operational support within a borderless workforce environment. You will act as a key legal advisor on employment matters across multiple APAC jurisdictions, helping shape compliant, scalable, and practical employment frameworks for international operations. The position blends hands-on legal drafting with strategic advisory work, including direct collaboration with HR, compliance, sales, and client-facing teams. You will play a critical role in supporting client onboarding and ongoing workforce operations in an Employer of Record (EOR) model. Operating in a fast-paced, global setting, you will help interpret evolving labor laws and translate them into actionable guidance. This is a highly autonomous role requiring strong judgment, commercial awareness, and the ability to manage complex, multi-jurisdictional employment challenges.
- Provide expert legal counsel on employment-related matters, including contracts, policies, benefits, terminations, restructurings, and workplace compliance across APAC jurisdictions.
- Draft, review, and negotiate employment agreements, separation agreements, and other employment-related legal documentation.
- Monitor and interpret changes in employment laws and regulations across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring proactive compliance updates for internal stakeholders.
- Support client onboarding and offboarding by assessing employment risks, regulatory requirements, and jurisdiction-specific considerations in an EOR context.
- Partner with external counsel to manage employment litigation matters in a cost-effective and strategic manner.
- Advise internal stakeholders on both day-to-day employment issues and broader strategic legal initiatives impacting global operations.
- Contribute to training programs by delivering employment law guidance to HR teams and client-facing stakeholders.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure consistent, compliant, and scalable employment practices across regions.
- Licensed to practice law in an APAC jurisdiction and in good standing.
- 4+ years of experience in employment law, ideally combining law firm and in-house experience.
- Strong knowledge of employment laws, regulations, and best practices across multiple APAC countries.
- Proven experience drafting and negotiating employment agreements and related documentation in domestic and international contexts.
- Familiarity with Employer of Record (EOR) models is a strong plus.
- Excellent legal research, analytical, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex legal concepts into clear, practical advice.
- Ability to work independently across jurisdictions and collaborate effectively with global, cross-functional teams.
- Strong commercial mindset, sound judgment, and a proactive, solution-oriented approach.
- Fluency in English is required; additional languages are an advantage.
- Competitive compensation package aligned with experience and market standards.
- Flexible remote work arrangements supporting work-life balance.
- Generous paid time off, including flexible PTO and additional personal days.
- Parental leave and volunteer time off to support personal and social impact initiatives.
- Access to learning and development programs to support continuous career growth.
- Inclusive, global work environment with diverse teams across multiple regions.
- Opportunity to work on high-impact global employment law challenges in a fast-growing organization.
