Position Overview

CIBHS is seeking a Senior Associate to support and lead key training, technical assistance, consulting, and practice improvement initiatives within our Practice Implementation & Improvement department. This position plays a central role in managing training, technical assistance, and consulting projects; supporting client relationships; developing and delivering training and consultation services; and contributing to business development efforts that advance behavioral health systems improvement.

The Senior Associate will work closely with counties, state agencies, community-based organizations, providers, and internal project teams to design and implement solutions that respond to client needs and support high-quality behavioral health service delivery. This role requires strong project management skills, behavioral health subject matter expertise, and the ability to build trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage training, technical assistance, consulting, and practice improvement projects from planning through completion.
  • Develop and maintain project plans, timelines, budgets, deliverables, and resource plans.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for clients, funders, and stakeholders, including counties, state agencies, providers, and community partners.
  • Build and maintain strong client relationships through clear communication, collaboration, and responsive problem-solving.
  • Develop and deliver training, technical assistance, consultation services, learning materials, tools, and other project deliverables.
  • Facilitate trainings, workshops, meetings, and consultation sessions for diverse audiences.
  • Coordinate with internal teams, subject matter experts, consultants, and external partners to support successful project delivery.
  • Support evaluation, reporting, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Contribute to project scoping, proposal development, budgeting, and other business development activities as assigned. Stay informed about behavioral health trends, research, best practices, and emerging client needs.
  • Attend conferences, client meetings, trainings, and other events as assigned, including occasional travel.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in behavioral health related field (e.g., Education, Psychology, Social Work, Public Health) or six to ten (6-10) years of equivalent experience, education, and/or training in behavioral health system management, operations, or consulting with demonstrated progression in responsibilities is required.
  • At least four (4) years of project management experience, including responsibility for project plans, budgets, timelines, deliverables, and stakeholder coordination.
  • California clinical licensure is preferred (e.g., LCSW, LMFT, LPCC, Licensed Psychologist, or other relevant behavioral health clinical license).
  • Demonstrated content expertise related to health care service delivery, behavioral health, program implementation, or practice improvement.
  • Familiarity with the public behavioral health system and/or health care service delivery system, preferably in California.
  • Experience developing, packaging, marketing, or delivering training and technical assistance products or services.
  • Strong facilitation, presentation, writing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple complex projects, competing priorities, and deadlines with a high degree of independence.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build collaborative relationships with clients, funders, partners, and internal teams.
  • Proficiency with project management platforms, virtual meeting platforms, evaluation and survey platforms, learning management systems, and Microsoft Office applications.

Compensation and Benefits

  • $100,000 - $115,000 per year

Work Location and Schedule

This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week hybrid position based out of CIBHS’ Sacramento, CA office. The selected candidate must reside in California and will be expected to work onsite approximately 2-3 days per week. Preference may be given to candidates residing within approximately 50 miles of the Sacramento office.

This role may require occasional travel within California and occasional nationwide travel for meetings, trainings, conferences, or project-related activities. Travel may include air travel and overnight stays.
