Job Description

  • Position Summary
    • The Children’s House is a 3-Star Quality Rated child care facility associated with St. Joseph’s/Candler. The Children’s House offers programs ranging from infant care to Pre-Kindergarten. Our mission is to promote the healthy growth and development of children and to strengthen and support the families and community.

      The focus of our program is to promote developmentally appropriate learning through respect, diversity, self-esteem and equality in order to prepare our learners for success. We accomplish this vision through cooperation among highly trained co-workers, our children’s families, and the community, in a safe, nurturing environment which provides individualized learning and developmentally appropriate practices.

      We believe that young children learn best through creative, hands-on learning experiences in an environment that fosters curiosity. The Office Assistant provides support to the Director and Teachers helping the children learn to think independently, to problem solve and to use their words to communicate their feelings.

  • Education
    • Required to fulfill one of the following requirements:

      • High School Diploma or GED - Required and 3 or more years of early care and education experience with young children
      • Child Development Associate Credential (CDA) and state approved 40-hour director course or 40 hours of state approved training which covers administration of early childhood programs and has 5 years experience as a program director
      • Technical Certificate of Credit in Early Childhood Education or Child Development and state approved 40-hour director course or 40 hours of state approved training which covers administration of early childhood programs and has 5 years experience as a program director
      • Technical College Diploma (TCD) in Early Childhood Education or Child Development and state approved 40-hour director course or 40 hours of state approved training which covers administration of early childhood programs and has 5 years experience as a program director
      • Associate's in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field
      • Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field
  • Experience
    • 5 Years experience as a program director or family child care - Required
    • 2 Years managing staff including hiring, scheduling, and providing feedback - Required
    • 3 Years of experience ensuring compliance with state licensing regulations and quality standards - Required
  • License & Certification
    • CPR/First Aid Certification - Required within 45 days from date of hire
  • Core Job Functions
    • Organizational Leadership & Program Direction: Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for the center, ensuring all programs, curriculum, services align with the center’s mission, educational philosophy, and commitment to high-quality early childhood education.
    • Quality Rated and Licensing Compliance: Maintain ultimate accountability for compliance with Georgia child care licensing regulations, Quality Rated standards, health and safety requirements, and all applicable state and federal regulations. Ensure the center maintains high standards of care, supervision, and education.
    • Financial & Resource Management: Develop and oversee the annual operating budget, staffing allocations, tuition strategies, and major purchasing requests to ensure long-term stability of the center.
    • Program Quality and Child Development Oversight: Ensure the center provides developmentally appropriate care and education that supports the physical, emotional, social, and cognitive growth of all the children. Over see implementation of curriculum practices, child assessments, and classroom quality standards across all classrooms.
    • Family Engagement & Communication: Maintain positive relationships with families, St. Joseph Candler, and the community through intentional communication. Serve as primary authority for escalated family concerns, significant behavioral or safety matters, and enrollment decisions.
    • Operational Oversight, Safety, and Risk Management: Provide leadership and oversight to the center staff to ensure a safe, efficient, and consistent daily operation of the center. Maintain responsibility for center safety, emergency preparedness, facility standards, and risk management practices.
