Our Day Surgery Unit plays a vital role in delivering safe, efficient surgical care, and every team member contributes to that success.

About This Role

As a Unit Coordinator in the Day Surgery Unit (DSU), you will provide essential administrative and clerical support that helps keep surgical and pain management services running smoothly. You will coordinate patient scheduling, maintain patient records, support communication among providers and staff, and assist with department operations to promote efficient patient flow and high-quality care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate daily patient scheduling and workflow, greet patients and visitors, answer phones, relay messages, and support patient flow throughout the department.
  • Maintain patient records, prepare reports and documentation, assemble surgical records, process pre-admission paperwork, and support insurance verification and pre-certification activities.
  • Support department operations by managing office and supply inventories, completing requisitions and repair requests, and maintaining an organized work environment.
  • Collaborate with providers, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams while assisting with workflow coordination, onboarding support, and promoting a positive patient experience.

Required Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Secretarial experience required.
  • Medical office or healthcare experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Preferred Skills

  • Computer proficiency and data entry experience.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to remain calm and professional when working with patients and families under stress. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and teamwork skills.
