About This Position
The Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Midwifery department at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Medical Office Secretary to join our team. NVRH’s skilled team offers a full range of services in our state-of-the-art facility. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of medical terminology and procedures, as well as excellent communication and organizational skills.
Duties and responsibilities will include:
- Communicating with patients in person and over the phone
- Coordinating patient care and referrals for multiple providers
- Maintaining patient records
- Scheduling, canceling appointments, and maintaining patient flow
- Ensuring accurate demographic and insurance information for patients
- Interacting with employers and employees
- Handling communications, including mail and telephone

What We’re Looking For
- Previous experience in a medical office, hospital, or clinical support role preferred.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology and electronic medical record (EMR) systems preferred.
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work independently while also functioning as a collaborative member of a multidisciplinary team.
- Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with competing demands.
