Scope and Purpose:

We are seeking an Underwriter for our Health division. This position involves calling people who have applied for insurance to verify their health history. Previous experience in this type of position or in the fields of medical underwriting, pharmacy technician, or medical office staff would be required to qualify for this position. You will apply your knowledge of common medical conditions and medicines in conversations with the applicants applying for our products.

This position requires some phone work but no sales. This is a Houston-based in-office position.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Review applications for health and other eligibility criteria.
  • Coordinate communication with applicants.
  • Collaborate with agents regarding applications as it pertains to the underwriting process.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent (GED).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • At least 1 year of health underwriting experience.
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology.
  • Excellent interpersonal and office skills.
  • Willingness to help and learn.
  • Health or life insurance knowledge is a plus.
  • Experience working as Medical Scribe, Pharmacy Technician, EMT, Pre-med Students or any other health/medical related positions.
