This is a senior executive leadership role at the intersection of compliance, risk, AML, and privacy within a fast-scaling digital financial institution. You will be responsible for shaping and executing the organization’s end-to-end regulatory compliance strategy while enabling innovation in a highly regulated environment. Acting as a key advisor to the CEO and Board, you will oversee regulatory relationships and ensure adherence to OSFI, FINTRAC, FCAC, PIPEDA, and other applicable frameworks. This role combines strategic oversight with hands-on execution across compliance, AML, and privacy programs. In this role, you will define and lead enterprise-wide compliance, AML, and privacy frameworks while ensuring full regulatory alignment and operational readiness across the organization. You will act as the primary regulatory interface and internal authority on compliance matters.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive compliance management system aligned with OSFI’s RCM framework and applicable Canadian banking regulations
- Serve as Chief Compliance Officer, CAMLO, and Chief Privacy Officer, ensuring oversight across AML, privacy, and regulatory compliance programs
- Lead regulatory engagement with OSFI, FINTRAC, FCAC, privacy commissioners, and other governing bodies, including reporting to the CEO and Board
- Oversee the design and execution of AML programs in compliance with PCMLTFA and related guidance, in coordination with financial intelligence teams
- Lead the enterprise privacy program, including PIPEDA compliance, privacy impact assessments, breach response, and training initiatives
- Establish governance structures between parent and subsidiary entities, including service level agreements and compliance accountability frameworks
- Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing compliance organization while fostering a strong risk-aware culture across the business
- Drive enterprise risk assessments, identify compliance vulnerabilities, and implement mitigation strategies with measurable controls
- Collaborate with Risk, Internal Audit, Legal, and Engineering to ensure integrated and proactive oversight of regulatory risk
You bring deep executive-level experience in financial services compliance, with strong expertise across AML, privacy, and Canadian regulatory frameworks. You are both strategic and hands-on, with a proven ability to operate in high-growth, regulated environments.
- 10+ years of experience in financial services compliance, including at least 5 years in senior leadership roles (CCO, CAMLO, or equivalent)
- Strong expertise in OSFI regulatory frameworks, AML legislation (PCMLTFA), and Canadian privacy laws (PIPEDA and provincial equivalents)
- Proven experience within regulated fintechs, neobanks, or financial institutions operating in complex compliance environments
- Demonstrated success in building and scaling compliance programs during periods of rapid growth and regulatory scrutiny
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence executive stakeholders, regulators, and board-level audiences
- Deep understanding of risk management, regulatory governance, and enterprise compliance structures
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate complex regulatory topics into clear strategic guidance
- Balanced mindset combining strategic vision with strong operational execution and attention to detail
- Passion for innovation in financial services, with a commitment to responsible growth and financial inclusion
- Competitive executive compensation ($280,000–$320,000 CAD base salary range)
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage (including family coverage options)
- Remote-first and flexible work environment supporting work-life integration
- Generous paid time off, including vacation, health days, holidays, and year-end shutdown
- Retirement savings plan with employer contributions
- Paid parental leave for all parents
- Opportunity to work in a high-growth fintech environment with strong backing and financial stability
- Inclusive and collaborative culture focused on innovation, autonomy, and impact
- Strong focus on professional development and mission-driven work in financial empowerment.
