About This Position
Responsible for coordinating all aspects of the hospice volunteer program including: recruiting, orienting, training, compliance, and oversight of the volunteers. Responsible for customer service at the hospice office, intake of new patients, clerical needs, and assisting the hospice manager with projects as assigned.
Job Requirements (knowledge of / skill / ability to): Demonstrate skill in administration functions including ability to develop policies and procedures for volunteers and have the skills to train the volunteers. Demonstrate skill with written and oral communications, and the ability to have a supportive and sensitive approach to volunteer and patient/family needs. Must be able to recruit new volunteers and build a rapport with them. Customer service skills including, but not limited to: multi-line phone system, filing, intake, scheduling, scanning, and faxing. Must be self-motivated and able to work independently. Knowledge of insurance verification and authorization processes is preferred.
Licenses/Certifications: Must pass a background check every three years for the hospice survey
Education and/or Experience:: Bachelors’ Degree or equivalent experience preferred. Experience with Hospice related volunteer activity preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment Conditions / ADA Compliance: Position involves standing, walking, stooping, and occasional carrying and lifting of lightweight materials (up to 20 pounds). May be required to sit for extended periods of time. Requires visual acuity and depth perception to recognize words and numbers; and hand and finger dexterity and hand/eye coordination to use a computer keyboard and common office equipment.
