Job Summary
The Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment news communications team is seeking a student intern to participate in meaningful storytelling about the college’s programs and students, as well as Cooperative Extension’s statewide impact. The intern will contribute to the team’s written and social media output while having the opportunity to learn from multimedia professionals.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Qualifications

  • Interest in communications, marketing, public relations
  • Some educational or work experience related to communications, marketing, public relations, etc.
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Experience with social media platforms
  • Willingness to collaborate with and contribute to a multimedia team, including written content, social media, graphic design, photography and videography
  • Must be a University of Kentucky student for the 2024-25 school year
  • Ability to work 15-20 hours per week, including some events outside of business hours
  • Not required to be a student in the Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment
Responsibilities

  • Learn about communications, marketing and branding for the Martin-Gatton College of Agriculture, Food and Environment
  • Conduct interviews and write stories related to the college’s success
  • Collaborate with social media manager on content for the college’s platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn)
  • Participate in team meetings to brainstorm content and contribute to overall strategy
  • Take photos and videos for online and social media content
  • Attend events as needed to aid in coverage
