Minimum Education

Required Associates degree, High school, or GED

Minimum Work Experience

3 5 years' experience in a hospital or physician practices setting

1 3 years' experience of patient care services

Required Licenses/Certifications

Vocational or Technical training in Electromyography Technician Training Program.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities

Intermediate computer knowledge, writing and speaking skills

Ability to multitask, can work in a fast paced clinical environment, can engage patients, peers, and supervisors in a dedicated, comforting, respectful and effective way and has the ability to adapt to change.

EMG Technicians (Neurological/Nerve Conduction) will prepare Patients for Electromyographic Tests.

Perform Nerve Conduction Studies (NSC) to measure muscle response and nerve conduction.

EMG Technicians (Neurological/Nerve Conduction) will prepare Patients for Needle Electromyography EMG.

Assist Physicians in EMG Testing as needed/requested by Supervising Physician.

EMG Technicians (Neurological/Nerve Conduction) will explain EMG Test procedures and instruct Patients on proper positioning during Test.

Apply electrodes on predetermined measured positions on the Patient, checking performance.

EMG Technicians (Neurological/Nerve Conduction) will ensure all EMG supplies and equipment are on hand for Testing needs.

Maintain cleanliness of EMG Testing Equipment.

EMG Technicians (Neurological/Nerve Conduction) will remove, clean, and sterilize EMG Equipment/Electrodes in compliance with universal codes and regulations.

Transfer EMG Test Results into Medical Records as requested by the Supervising Physician.

Other clinical or administrative responsibilities, assigned by supervisor or Physician, as deemed necessary
