Job Description
Shop Supervisor
Reporting to the Service Manager, the Shop Supervisor role is accountable for executing the direction and standards for the shop operations set by the Maintenance & Procurement division.
Working with the team, the Shop Supervisor is responsible and accountable for the efficient delivery of equipment maintenance services through the tactical alignment with the daily activities of shop operations. Providing a high-quality and cost-effective maintenance service keeping safety as priority, while ensuring customer satisfaction through collaboration with all TransX customers. The Shop Supervisor will work on assigned continuous improvement initiatives, work on developing retail business for the shop and motivate the team to create more value and enhance overall performance to meet the expectations of the division.

Planning & Daily Operations
- Co-ordinate and monitor daily resource requirements to ensure maximum productivity and utilization of technicians, shop facilities, tools, equipment and materials while maintaining quality
- Work on scheduled preventive maintenance targets ensuring productivity, capacity utilization and quality level in day-to-day operations and to train technicians as needed to reach the optimum skillset
- Prepare shift plans and ensure the workload is pre-staged for optimizing active bay usage, reducing idle time and changeover time for technicians
Monitoring & Controlling
- Ensure SRT’s are adhered to by monitoring SRT’s and parts variance reports daily
- Identify scopes to ensure resource utilization benchmarks are met by shop operations
- Work with team to adhere to all TransX and governmental safety and regulatory compliance
Vendor Performance Management
- Work with vendors and collect offers to prepare a comparative study for a job and to manage the vendor until the job is completed
- Work with vendors so that they adhere to TransX repair standards and review their performance
- Evaluate in-house versus outside service ratio to limit vendor costs while ensuring quality, safety, cost of repairs and service efficiency throughput
Preventive Maintenance
- Implement timely and efficient completion of all scheduled preventive maintenance tasks
- Work with the team for adhering to preventive maintenance processes and SRT’s performance in order to provide consistent service delivery
- Assist in the development and execution of the CI initiatives for the shop operations
Customer Service
- Work on the successful delivery of customer service excellence in a cost efficient manner
- Responsible for the efficient service delivery as per the requirements driven by the daily activities of operations located in the region and the retail customers
- Assist in handling customer complaints and concerns documenting outcomes or additional action items
Qualifications and Experience:
- Five years of supervisory experience with another five-plus years Heavy Equipment, Transport Truck & Trailer mechanical experience holding the required regulatory licenses. General mechanical knowledge of Heavy Equipment, Truck, Reefer and Trailer body and chassis with strong diagnosis and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience of working in a team environment with conflict resolution skills and ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines and time management. Organizational skills with good interpersonal and supervisory skills.
- Oral and written communication skills and computer proficient (MS Office, proprietary engine and component software programs, etc.).
- This role will position the employee to advance into shop management roles within the Maintenance & Procurement division.
- Good understanding of fleet maintenance processes, their effectiveness and the metrics that clearly describe the performance
