Principal at Alabama State Department of Education

Guides the implementation of Board policies, school system rules, and administrative procedures and adheres to applicable federal and state requirements.
Confirms instructional programs provided engage students in tasks requiring analytical and critical thinking, questioning the known, problem-solving and creativity; address the range of skills and developmental needs found in the classroom; encourage students to define individual goals and accept responsibility for learning; and provide a variety of methods for students to demonstrate performance and achievement.
Works cooperatively with leadership teams to ensure the district's vision, policies, goals, and strategies are implemented and communicated to staff within the school.
Establish a positive relationship with students, parents, co-workers, volunteers, and other visions.
Leads school staff in the development, implementation, and evaluation of instructional and extracurricular activities in alignment with district goals and objectives.
Seeks to improve the quality of the instructional program and school climate through responsible teacher implementation of the curriculum and supervision of instruction.
Supervises the instructional programs of the school, evaluates lesson plans, and observes classes on a regular basis for the purpose of supporting best instructional practices and encouraging the use of a variety of instructional strategies and materials consistent with research on learning and child growth and development.
Participates in principals' meetings and other meetings as required or appropriate.
Conducts faculty meetings regularly to discuss instructional programs focusing on student achievement and professional development of faculty.
Enforces district guidelines for proper student conduct and disciplinary procedures and policies to ensure a safe and orderly learning environment and promote the general health, safety, and welfare of the student body.
Communicates regularly and effectively with students' families to seek support and input in order to create and promote a cooperative relationship to support students and responds to parents' questions and concerns in a timely manner.
Manages and/or coordinates supervision of school-sponsored events and attends school functions regularly to demonstrate genuine interest in student/staff activities and maintain visibility with students, staff, students' families, and the community.
