About the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan:
The National Kidney Foundation of Michigan (NKFM) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the health and well-being of individuals affected by kidney disease. NKFM focuses on kidney health education, prevention, and research while offering support to kidney patients and their families. We are committed to increasing public awareness, promoting healthy living, and advancing medical research related to kidney disease.
Volunteer Overview:
As a volunteer at the NKFM, you will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit management, health education, community outreach, event planning, marketing, fundraising, and other aspects of our mission. You will work closely with our team to support the Foundation’s programs and initiatives, gaining valuable insights into the day-to-day operations of a nonprofit organization.
Qualifications:
1. Current undergraduate or graduate student in public health, nonprofit management, communications, social work, biology, or a related field.
2. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
3. Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
4. Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
5. Passion for public health, nonprofit work, and/or kidney disease prevention and education.
6. Previous volunteer or internship experience in a nonprofit or health-related field is a plus.
7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and basic social media platforms is preferred.
8. Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism.
