Shipping and Receiving Clerk in Markle, Indiana at SORTERA ALLOYS INC

Position summary

The Shipping and Receiving Coordinator keeps material moving in and out of the facility accurately and on time. This role stages outbound loads, receives inbound material, maintains inventory levels, and keeps labeling and paperwork correct. The coordinator works closely with supervisors to align shipments with production and customer needs. This role is Monday through Friday from 8:00am through 4:00pm

Key responsibilities

• Stage finished material for outbound shipments according to the shipping schedule
• Weigh loads and material using facility scales and record weights accurately
• Prepare, verify, and file packing slips and other shipping/receiving documentation
• Label material correctly for grade, weight, lot, and destination
• Track and maintain inventory levels; assist with cycle counts as needed
• Coordinate with supervisors on load priorities, schedule changes, and material availability
• Keep shipping and receiving areas organized, clean, and safe
• Follow all company safety policies, including PPE and powered industrial truck rules

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Ability to operate a forklift, or willingness to learn and become certified
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel (data entry, basic formulas, tracking sheets)
• Experience operating industrial or truck scales preferred
• Excellent time management; able to prioritize multiple shipments and deadlines
• Strong attention to detail and accurate recordkeeping
• Clear communication with supervisors, coworkers, and drivers
• Prior shipping, receiving, or warehouse experience preferred
