About This Position
Position Highlights:
Core specific licensure and/or certifications required
Annual Human Subjects Training, i.e. CITI is required
The Research Specialist I should possess knowledge that will allow them to perform general laboratory techniques and follow established practices and protocols in the core facility. Performs assigned tasks and learns new procedures under the direction of senior staff. Must demonstrate the ability to assist and train clients in basic instrument operation as job experience grows. Must demonstrate the ability to apply basic learning in generally defined means with guidance from senior staff. Attends in-house courses, seminars and workshops, related to core activities and cancer biology.
Responsibilities:
- Follows established practices and protocols in the core, primarily responsible for performing general laboratory techniques in the core facility.
- Assists and trains customers in basic instrument operation
- Works on routine problems of diverse scope in which analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors.
- Responsible to perform assigned tasks and learn new procedures under the direction of senior staff.
- Demonstrates ability to apply basic learning in generally defined means with guidance
- from senior staff.
- Capable of performing all assigned duties and tasks in the core. Demonstrates consistent ability to apply knowledge and skills learned.
- Under the direction of senior staff is capable of trouble shooting problems with instruments and procedures.
- Employs universal safety practices and is responsible to help provide a safe environment for all fellow employees and customers.
- High School Diploma/GED required, Associate's or bachelor’s degree in core related field of study.
- A minimum of two years in a science related field with High School Diploma.
- One year of laboratory experience with AA/AS degree.
- No experience required with BS/BA degree.
- Proficient Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
