About This Position

Job Summary:

The Pre-Analytical Operations Lead is responsible for training employees in the Pre-Analytical Operations department, direct workflow processes, able to assist in troubleshooting issues with patient samples and effectively communicate internally and externally. Accessioning patient samples information into the LIS. Scanning requisitions, accessing workflow processes, ordering tests. Completing employee competencies.

Essential Responsibilities/Duties:

  • Review all information is accurate and meets company standards.
  • Accepts deliveries from couriers.
  • Ability to identify all CAP/CLIA/HIPPA required sample and physician/patient information.
  • Accession patient sample information, medication, and physician test orders according to requisitions, accurately.
  • Provide oversight of physician/patient information required by HIPPA/CLIA/CAP and overall best practices.
  • Identify missing information and execute proper route when missing information is identified.
  • Maintain an error rate below .05% with a goal of zero errors per month.
  • Trains or supervises training of other staff members.
  • Conducts regular staff meetings and uses other formal and informal communication methods to facilitate group communication as well as inform subordinates on relevant matters.
  • Assists staff members with skill development.
  • Notify management of any present or potential issues related to quality of service, processes, or compliance.
  • Responsible to adherence to annual safety compliance and HIPPA training.
  • Directs workflow during shifts.
  • Qualifications:

    Education –

    • H.S Diploma or equivalent
    • Some college coursework in healthcare administration, business, science, or laboratory related education, preferred.

    Competencies/Skills –

    • Strong attention to detail
    • Strong organizational skills
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all medical, financial, and legal information
    • Ability to work independently and complete work assignments accurately and in a timely manner
    • Exceptional oral and written communication skills

    Experience –

    • 1-year prior experience working in a laboratory environment.
    • 1-year prior experience working in a leadership position preferred.
    • Experience working with MS Office Suite required.
