Position: Interim Director, William E. Pannell Center for Black Church Studies
Job Class: Temporary Part-Time, Non-Exempt
Effective Dates: Spring Quarter ‘26 through Fall Quarter ‘26
Work Location: Hybrid, Pasadena, CA
Work Hours: 10 hours/week
Brief Summary:
The Interim Director will serve as the temporary lead of the Pannell Center, working closely with the Program Coordinator, to facilitate and coordinate the efforts of the Pannell Center with regard to students and partners. During the extended sabbatical of the Academic Dean, the Interim Director will carry out the vision of the Center and fill in (where appropriate) for the Academic Dean in his absence. This is a temporary part-time position and expected to end in December 2026
Job Details:
- Report directly to the Academic Dean and the Chief Academic Officer
- Work with the Program Coordinator in all facets (including student advising, faculty/staff presence, event planning, attending meetings, hosting webinars, communication, and administrative support)
- Hybrid hours are as follows:
- 5 hours per week on the Pasadena campus, in the Pannell Center
- 5 hours per week remote
- Co-lead weekly staff meetings
- Provide student support and formation during in-person and virtual hours
- Serve as point person for final decisions regarding the Center
- Engage with community partners as needed to facilitate the vision and activity of the Center
- Support the Program Coordinator in other administrative needs
- Assure the Pannell Center space is physically open and available as described
- Be available for travel, as needed or funded, to represent the Center
Requirements:
- Terminal degree in ministry, Christian/spiritual formation, or related field
- Ordained clergy with 5+ years experience working in/with the Black church context; currently serving in some ministry capacity
- Experience working in higher theological education
- Experience in public speaking (including, but not limited to, preaching)
- Experience working with/on grant-funded projects
- Demonstrated capacity to work in a team environment
- Understanding of student life and formation
- Proficiency in Google Workspace
- Effective communication skills

- Must be willing to abide by Fuller Community Standards
- This is a hybrid position that requires work to be done in-person on our Pasadena, CA campus
- This is a temporary position and expected to conclude at the end of the Fall quarter 2026
Pay Scale:
- Hourly rate the seminary expects to pay: $30.00 per hour USD
