Overview:
State Fair Community College is an accessible, learning-centered institution, enriching its students and community by providing skills, knowledge and perspectives essential for a changing world.
Responsibilities:
- Providing general technical support and information to students, faculty, and staff via phone, email, or in person.
- Assisting IT staff with basic tasks, such as troubleshooting hardware and software issues, resetting passwords, and updating software.
- Maintaining inventory of checkout equipment.
- Refilling paper trays and consumables on Pay for Print printers on a scheduled rotation.
- Assisting with special projects as assigned.
Management reserves the right to add, modify, change, or rescind work assignments as needed.
Typical Qualifications:
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills to provide quality support to walk-in customers in a timely and accurate manner.
- Recommendation to have skills and/or interest in customer service, PC hardware, software applications, and operating systems.
- Must be able to acquire, maintain and increase knowledge of supported products, printers, software, and hardware.
- Ability to work with and impart knowledge to both novice and advanced customers.
- Ability to follow policies and instructions.
- Ability to work with limited supervision and display a sense of urgency in assigned tasks.
- Must display a high level of professionalism in appearance, attitude, and work ethic.
- Ability to work proactively and cooperatively with ITS staff and part-time employees within Information Technology.
This position is a part of the Federal work-study program, to qualify you must be a State Fair Community College student enrolled in the current semester and eligible for Financial Aid thorough the Federal Work-study program. The job is in a fast-paced environment that requires good communication, customer service and problem solving skills. Candidate will possess a working knowledge of computers, excellent oral and written communications skills, demonstrate student centeredness and be able to interact with a broad range of people with diverse backgrounds in a positive manner. Demonstrate a commitment to the philosophy and mission of the community college.
Employment will require a criminal background check at College expense.
