Mechanic C at Paratransit Inc – Sacramento, California

Paratransit, Inc. is currently seeking applications for full-time Bus Mechanics to perform maintenance and repair work on buses, vehicles, and other equipment as assigned. The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM, with occasional shifts starting as early as 5:30 AM for training or as needed. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

Minimum Qualifications:

Valid California Class C Driver’s License, with a clean driving record

Must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger Endorsement upon hire

ASE Certification is preferred but not required

Tools and equipment of the mechanic trade provided

Must be reliable and responsible

Ability to learn the operation and repair characteristics of buses, trucks, vans, automobiles, and other equipment

Knowledge of gasoline, diesel, and alternative fuel engines is a plus

Familiarity with mechanic tools, materials, and practices

Must pass a drug test (including marijuana)

Mechanic A (Highly Skilled Level):

ASE Certification or successful completion of related field certification required, plus 5 years of work experience and welding experience

Performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance and repair of buses, vehicles, and other equipment

Works with minimal supervision, ensuring timely and efficient repairs

Provides oversight and guidance to other mechanics as assigned

Requires advanced technical skills and journey-level tasks

Expereince with bus lifts a plus

Mechanic B (Mid-Level):

ASE Certification or successful completion of related field certification required, plus 5 years of work experience

Performs skilled and semi-skilled maintenance and repair work on buses, vehicles, and other equipment

Works under direct supervision, handling basic mechanical tasks and assisting in more complex repairs

Responsible for assisting higher-level mechanics and relieving them of routine maintenance tasks

Mechanic C (Entry-Level):

ASE Certification or successful completion of related field certification required, or 1-2 years of work experience

Performs routine preventive maintenance and basic repair work on buses, vehicles, and other equipment

Works under close supervision, assisting with inspections and repairs

Responsible for preventive maintenance tasks and supporting more complex maintenance activities

Salary and Benefits:

Starting salary: $22.00–$27.00 per hour, depending on experience and skill level
