Description:

MVP Holdings is a privately owned energy logistics company headquartered in Wichita, KS. MVP and its subsidiaries provide gathering, transportation, processing, storage, distribution, marketing and other midstream services to independent oil and natural gas producers, refiners of petroleum and products and other market participants located throughout the United States.

We are currently looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Crude Settlement Accounting team. This position can be located in either Wichita, KS or Oklahoma City, OK. The ideal candidate for this position is highly organized, detail-oriented, and possesses strong analytical skills. They should be able to manage multiple tasks efficiently and ensure accuracy in all responsibilities. Effective communication and collaboration with various team members are essential for this role.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for all facets of the monthly crude oil settlement process, including:
  • Ensure that crude oil purchases and sales are settled in accordance with contract terms.
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies related to volumes and pricing, inventory gains and losses, and payments.
  • Frequently communicate with a diverse cross-section of individuals, including customers, producers, schedulers, marketing team, and revenue distribution team
  • Prepare month-end journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and accruals to accurately reflect the company’s position.
  • Analyze income statement and balance sheet accounts at month-end and explain variances.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly settlement forecast.
  • Conduct volume reconciliations to ensure accurate inventory positions.

Other Functions

  • Manage special projects as needed
  • Complete regulatory filings as needed
  • Other various accounting/finance/analytics responsibilities
Requirements:

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, along with investigative and follow-up skills.
  • Strong organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure of strict deadlines.
  • Customer service mindset with ability to work with a wide cross section of individuals.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. (pivot tables, v-lookups, Macros, etc).
  • Ability to work independently and approach tasks with limited direction from management.

Experience and Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance.
  • General ledger experience, including preparing journal entries and account reconciliations.
  • Oil and gas industry experience preferred.
  • Experience working with external auditors, explaining processes, and performing reconciliations.

Location

  • On-site with the potential to work from home up to 2 days per week.
