Job Summary

The Application Support Analyst is a key member of the Data Architecture & Engineering team, responsible for supporting and maintaining the firm’s critical data platforms, applications, and integrations. This role focuses on ensuring the reliability and performance of data engineering, data management, and operational systems, while partnering closely with data engineers to troubleshoot issues and improve processes. The position offers a strong growth opportunity for individuals looking to build hands-on experience and progress toward a data engineering role within the firm.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide production support for data engineering platforms, applications, and integrations.
  • Monitor, triage, and respond to system alerts, errors, and service requests in the data engineering support queue.
  • Troubleshoot application and data issues by analyzing systems, following recovery procedures, and escalating incidents as needed.
  • Develop working knowledge of financial, accounting, and data domains to support root-cause analysis and issue resolution.
  • Understand and describe complex database structures in SQL Server and Snowflake.
  • Support data engineers with data profiling, validation, and testing using SQL and Python.
  • Identify and recommend opportunities to improve operational processes and system reliability.
  • Assist with requirements analysis, task estimation, and delivery planning for support and project work.
  • Create and maintain clear, accurate technical documentation.
  • Collaborate with users and developers to gather information, communicate status, and support resolution efforts.
  • Participate in design discussions and code reviews to build technical understanding and contribute feedback.
  • Perform other job duties assigned as necessary.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field. Comparable work experience may be substituted for education requirements.
  • Knowledge of IT environments including databases, networking, server technologies, APIs, FTP, security, testing, and deployments.
  • Previous experience in the financial services industry is preferred but not required.
  • Ability to profile and analyze database structures and develop queries for purposes of debugging, investigation, and testing.
  • Strong written communication skills for producing technical documentation and end-user guidelines.
  • Capable of understanding, designing, and describing database structures, business processes, and critical systems.
  • Must have exceptional customer service skills, demonstrate an ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing environments.
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively and collaborate in a team environment.
  • The ability to work as part of a team, either as part of a project team, or as part of ongoing daily assignments within the department.
  • Deep curiosity and a strong self-directed learner to master new technologies, financial subject matter, and complex database structures.
  • Contribute to the improvement of department processes, standards, and documentation.
  • Problem solver with the ability to think outside the box and perform root cause analysis.
  • Must be accountable and detail oriented with excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Commitment to complete assignments according to established goals and objectives.
  • Ability to work non-business hours as needed.
