RN Charge at Willis-Knighton Health System – Shreveport, Louisiana

We are seeking an experienced RN to serve as a Charge nurse in our Intermediate Care Unit while maintaining a patient assignment. This role provides frontline leadership, supports staffing and ensures high-quality patient care in a fast-paced stepdown environment.

Responsibilities include providing direct patient care while serving as charge nurse, coordinating unit workflow, assignments, and patient throughput. Act as a clinical resource and support for nursing staff, collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary teams, monitor patient acuity and escalate care as needed, and ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.

The patient population includes cardiac monitoring, titration of select IV drips, BIPAP/high flow oxygen, renal patients, diabetic patients including DKA, sepsis and post-operative patients. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3.

Requirements are an active RN license, a minimum of 2 years’ acute care experience in an Intermediate Care/Stepdown area. ACLS is also required.
