Essential Functions
An Algebra Teacher specializes in instructing middle or high school scholars in algebraic concepts like variables, equations, functions, and graphs. They develop curriculum-aligned lesson plans, differentiate instruction for diverse learners, assess student progress, manage classrooms, and communicate with parents, often incorporating digital technology to boost engagement.
Duties/ Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement lesson plans covering variables, inequalities, equations, and functions aligned with state standards.
- Utilize diverse teaching methods, such as direct instruction, group activities, and technology-based tools to explain complex algebraic concepts clearly.
- Create, administer, and grade quizzes, tests, and assignments to evaluate student comprehension.
- Adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of all learners, including providing extra support for struggling students or specialized instruction for IEP/ELL students.
- Establish a positive, structured, and engaging learning environment.
- Maintain regular communication with parents regarding scholar progress and collaborate with faculty members to align curriculum
Requirement/Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree is required, typically in mathematics or secondary education
- Must possess and maintain a PA certification. Preferred certification in mathematics, generally in secondary education
- Strong proficiency in algebra, mathematical operations and analytical thinking
- Patience, effective communication, and the ability to use educational technology
- Multi-faceted, multi-skilled, resourceful, and willing to do whatever it takes to help our scholars reach a level of academic excellence
- Model positive and healthy character traits and habits, such as being organized, consistent and understanding

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job, the building sub is regularly required to:
- Speak, stand, talk, walk, see, hear and, sometimes, to sit.
- Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to read small print.
- Frequently bend, reach above the head, as well as forward, and use fine motor skills.
