PriOR Authorization Specialist at North Kansas City Hospital – North Kansas City, Missouri

SUMMARY: SUMMARY: Under the direction of the department of Patient Access Supervisor and Director, the Prior Authorization Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely submission and attainment of authorization for NKCH patients. Responsibilities will include, but not limited to, insurance verification, insurance coverage discovery, precertification and authorization stat using in required EHR fields prior to patients arriving for their scheduled services.

EXPERIENCE: General office experience required 1 year. Computer experience required. 1-2 yearsworking in Patient Access, Precertification, and/or healthcare customer service/billing position.

SPECIAL SKILLS: Typing/keyboarding skills required. Customer service skills required. Medical terminology and experience working with insurance plans preferred. Cognitive skills required for this position include learning, remembering, focusing, categorizing, and reasoning.

EDUCATION: Required: High School or Equivalent
