Mental Health Technician in San Antonio, Texas at University Health System- San Antonio

POSITION SUMMARY/RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists Psychiatry Services, nursing staff with patient preparation and treatment procedures, both acute and non-acute illnesses or injuries. Performs routine patient care as required in a psychiatric environment. Assists in maintaining the therapeutic milieu by utilizing appropriate communication skills. Performs clerical duties associated with patient care management.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

A high school diploma, its equivalent, or higher degree is required. One year of experience in a psychiatric setting is preferred. Can substitute one year of college credit towards a Nursing or Psychology degree for one year of experience. Phlebotomy experience preferred. Must have current American Heart Association, Basic Cardiac Life Support and Healthcare Provider card.
