Pay Rate: $21.25 per hour

Schedule: Monday - Friday 7:00am - 3:30pm

Summary
To assure timely pickup and delivery of donated household goods and materials.
Provides support and training to driver assistants, mapping for daily routes, pick-up and deliver materials to designated locations, load and unload materials, perform inspections of vehicles and assure safe working order.
Essential Functions
The following responsibilities represent the essential functions of the position. An employee in this classification is responsible for carrying out the following functions:
1. Drive HOPE trucks to pick up and deliver donated goods and materials. Read a map and assure safe navigation through various communities.
2. Route daily assignments to assure all customers expecting a pick up receive expected services.
3. Load and unload materials from trucks. Assure placement of materials in truck meet safety standards for transporting.
4. Represent the agency in the community, provide excellent customer service.
5. Communicate all change, customer concerns and transportation issues to home base.
6. Follow store procedures for off-loading at designated stores.
7. Perform daily service check of vehicles; assuring vehicle is in safe running order before leaving home base.
8. Perform minor service on assigned vehicle such as adding fluids, securing gas, replacing wipers etc.
9. Supervise and provide training to assistants.
10. Acts as a mandated abuse reporter
11. Perform other duties as assigned to assure efficiency of the program.
Qualifications Required
High School Diploma, G.E.D. or equivalent plus one-two years of related experience driving light trucks in an urban environment.
Required Knowledge and Skills
1. Ability to read a map.
2. Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
3. Ability to accept supervision and work cooperatively as a team member with co-workers as well as with the client and community resources.
4. Knowledge of proper methods of handling large items and proper lifting techniques.
5. Ability to utilize critical thinking skills in decision making situations, and good independent judgment.
6. Knowledge and understanding of defensive driving techniques plus a clear driving record for 3 years.
7. Ability to work independently in the community and represent the agency in a positive manner.
8. Ability to be flexible with scheduling and prioritization of tasks.

Environmental Conditions
Extensive travel in the broad community. Drives agency trucks on designated routes throughout the entire shift. Constant lifting and moving of heavy materials in and out of the vehicle. Some report writing and communication with members of the community.
