Job Overview:
The Emergency Medicine Clinical Specialist is responsible for the provision of pharmaceutical care to all patient age groups including geriatric, adult, adolescent, pediatric, and neonatal patients. They are responsible for providing all levels of pharmacy clinical services within specialization in their assigned area, including but not limited to the preparation, dispensing, and monitoring of both the prescribing and effectiveness of all medications and IV admixtures. The Specialist is responsible for assisting the Director and Assistant Director of Pharmacy and the Clinical Coordinator in the coordination and supervision of all clinical pharmacy activities in addition to the quality improvement and quality assurance activities relating to the provision of pharmaceutical care,
Qualifications:
Required:
- Graduate of an ACPE accredited college of Pharmacy, with PharmD
- Current New Jersey State license as Registered Pharmacist in good standing or eligible for licensure required
- Successful completion of a Post Graduate Year 1 Residency - PGY1 required
Preferred:
- Successful completion of a Post Graduate Year 2 PGY2 in Critical Care or Emergency Medicine preferred,
- Board Certification in Critical Care or Emergency Medicine preferred,
Essential Functions:
- The Specialist plans, organizes, analyzes, and compiles the facility's medication utilization programs as required and assists in the implementation of cost-containment programs and research.
- Furnish clinical information to physicians, pharmacy personnel, healthcare practitioners, and patients,
- Participates in multidisciplinary patient care rounds, ongoing education, and training related to organization and department-specific requirements,
- Properly complies with all national patient safety goals/risk reduction processes and associated policies and procedures as applicable to medication management and the pharmacy setting
- Participates in medication error and adverse drug reaction reporting programs,
- Assists with orientation and training of new employees, students, nursing and medical staff,
- Promotes positive relations and actively contributes to a positive work environment,
