About This Position

General Role Description: The Tutoring & Learning Specialist supports student achievement by coordinating peer tutoring and proctoring services, overseeing online tutoring platforms, and promoting academic integrity through educational programming. This role includes hiring, training, and supervising student staff, providing targeted writing and ELL support, and offering interventions for at-risk students. The Specialist collaborates across campus to ensure equitable access to learning resources and alignment with institutional goals for academic success.

Key Role Accountabilities

  • Manage the peer tutoring and proctoring programs of the Academic Success Center, including the recruitment, hiring, onboarding, and supervision of student employees, including schedules and time reporting in compliance with institutional and HR guidelines.
  • Monitor tutor performance and promote continuous development through regular training, feedback, and evaluation.
  • Administer the online tutoring platform, including service tracking, usage reporting, user troubleshooting, marketing, and coordination with vendor support to optimize effectiveness and student access.
  • Oversee and coordinate academic support services including the Writing Lab, English Language Learner (ELL) support, and standardized test preparation programs; collaborate with the library to enhance student research skills and resource access.
  • Design and deliver academic integrity education initiatives, such as workshops, digital modules, and outreach campaigns, to promote understanding of institutional policies and the values of ethical academic conduct.
  • Identify students in need of academic intervention through referrals, performance data, or faculty/staff input, and coordinate targeted support plans that may include tutoring, skill development, or study coaching.
  • Contribute to the Academic Success Center’s initiatives to promote student engagement, persistence, and retention.
  • Contribute to re-entry and onboarding processes by providing academic planning and tutoring referrals for new and returning students.

Minimum Role Requirements

  • Master's degree in higher education/college student development, counseling or related field preferred.
  • Two years of experience in a higher education institution providing direct service to students and knowledge of the entire student lifecycle; experience in case management preferred.
