Job Description

Summary/Objective

Responsible for conducting Floor Tours of the currency production floor.

Providing special tours, assisting in preparing packets for special groups, and specific tours, handling special requests from the COR.

Essential Functions

Work schedule as assigned. Hours are designated by the Federal Agency and Ruchman and will be given to each employee and modifications are not allowed unless approved by the Federal Agency and Ruchman Program Manager.

  • Schedules are subject to change and could occur based on the government’s needs and during Peak Season there could be extended hours.
  • No changes to schedule are allowed outside of what the government has required unless prior approval is given.
  • Must successfully complete training within the probationary period.
  • Greets and registers guests; distributes any required identification badges or safety devices.
  • Plans expeditions, instruction, and appropriate commentary based on environmental conditions and client’s skills and ability levels.
  • Provides guests and visitors with initial safety and administrative information and direction.
  • Conducts tour or excursion while providing interesting and entertaining information about popular locations or specific points of interest.
  • Retells and relays important or interesting historical facts, dates, and anecdotes.
  • Engages wit and charm to enhance the guest experience.
  • Tailors tour content to the age and interest of guests and visitors.
  • Facilitates rich discussions that maintain visitors’ interest.
  • Maintains compliance with all applicable safety practices, environmental regulations, and establishment policies.
  • Conduct guided tours to a variety of visitors including Government officials, special visitors, school groups, civic groups, and special interest groups.
  • Maintain current CPR certifications from a program consistent with or provided by the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • Stand ready to and perform CPR when police officers and health unit personnel are not immediately available.
  • Tour Employees should at all times be customer service friendly, proficient, and fluent in the English Language (reading, writing, speaking and comprehension) and be available for the guided tours and to discuss the exhibits, displays and promotional events throughout the Tour.
  • Must be able to efficiently operate AV equipment. Turn on TV/Video for guests, operate a two-way radio communication and communicate in a respective manner.
  • Must be able to distribute tickets to guests outside.
  • May be required to assist large groups outside as they line up for security.
  • Must exhibit professional behavior dealing with Federal staff, and when engaging with security.
  • Assist Guests with wheelchairs as needed.
  • Must maintain positive feedback cards, be a team player, and communicate with leads and supervisors at all times.
  • Will be required to work multiple posts throughout the day. Daily post assignments will be given, and the posts could vary from inside to outdoor locations as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Work Environment

  • 301 4th Street SW, Washington, D.C. 20228
  • Public Indoor Environment in Governmental Building
  • Outdoor Environment on the exterior of the building.

Physical Demands

  • Prolonged periods standing and walking.
  • Physically able to speak for long periods of time while walking without becoming winded.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Position is Public Facing and Remote work is not allowed.

Travel Required

  • No travel required.

Required Education & Experience

  • Have customer service experience. Experience in a visitor center or public tour service preferred.
  • Have at least one (1) year public speaking experience to larger groups (over 30 people), involving making high-level concepts accessible to a variety of ages.
  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma.

Required Uniform

  • Must follow Dress Code Requirements from the Bureau of Engraving and Printing and keep Uniforms provided by Ruchman in a clean and neat condition.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance Requirements

  • US Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident Alien.
  • Must be fully able to pass the mandatory Background Investigation conducted by Treasury’s Security Department.
  • Security Clearance Required.
