This leadership role is focused on shaping and evolving the user experience of one of the world’s most widely used web browsers.
You will lead a distributed team of frontend engineers responsible for delivering fast, secure, and highly usable desktop browser experiences across multiple platforms.
The role combines people leadership, technical oversight, and product delivery, ensuring that UI improvements directly enhance how millions of users interact with the web.
You will partner closely with product, UX, QA, operations, and data teams to drive alignment and deliver high-impact features.
Beyond execution, you will build a strong engineering culture rooted in quality, inclusivity, and continuous improvement.
You will help define technical direction for frontend architecture and ensure scalable, maintainable systems across browser experiences.
This is a remote role in Canada with significant influence on product direction and engineering excellence.

Accountabilities:
  • Lead and manage a geographically distributed frontend engineering team responsible for delivering improvements to desktop browser user experiences.
  • Drive execution of multiple concurrent initiatives, ensuring high-quality delivery, clear timelines, and alignment with product and technical goals.
  • Oversee frontend architecture and UI system improvements, including design systems and performance-focused enhancements.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners in Product, UX, QA, Data Science, and Operations to define priorities and deliver impactful features.
  • Establish and evolve engineering processes that improve team productivity, quality, and long-term scalability.
  • Provide ongoing coaching, performance feedback, and career development support through regular 1:1s and mentorship.
  • Foster an inclusive, high-performing engineering culture while enabling teams to operate autonomously and effectively across distributed locations.
Requirements:
  • 4+ years of experience in engineering management, leading frontend or full-stack software teams in a distributed environment.
  • Strong technical background in frontend technologies (JavaScript/TypeScript, HTML, CSS) with the ability to guide technical decisions.
  • Proven experience delivering complex, user-facing web or desktop product experiences at scale.
  • Experience managing multiple parallel projects and balancing short-term delivery with long-term architectural planning.
  • Background working with frontend platforms, including design systems, UI frameworks, or architectural modernization efforts.
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of hiring, mentoring, and developing engineers across different levels.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience engaging with senior leadership.
  • Ability to drive alignment, manage risk, and support data-informed delivery decisions in fast-paced environments.
  • Experience in open-source environments and/or interest in leveraging AI in frontend engineering is a plus.
  • Commitment to inclusive leadership, collaboration, and continuous learning.
Benefits:
  • Competitive compensation aligned with Canadian market ranges.
  • Comprehensive health coverage, including medical, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Generous retirement contributions with immediate vesting.
  • Performance-based bonus program shared across the organization.
  • Paid parental leave and flexible time-off policies, including birthday leave and wellness days.
  • Annual home office stipend and professional development budget.
  • Quarterly wellness and well-being stipends to support work-life balance.
  • Inclusive, mission-driven environment focused on building an open and accessible internet.
