Clinical Research Lab Technician

Location: Onsite - Orlando, FL

Employment Type: Full-Time, W-2 Employee, Non-Exempt

Hourly Rate: $21/hr; paid bi-weekly

Schedule/Hours: Monday-Friday

APG Research, LLC is a rapidly growing clinical research site specializing in psychiatric and medical clinical trials. Our mission is to advance innovative treatments while providing exceptional care to our study participants. We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Clinical Research Lab Technician to join our research team and play a vital role in supporting the laboratory operations that drive successful clinical trials. This is an onsite position at our Orlando, FL office.

Job Summary

The Clinical Research Lab Technician is responsible for the collection, processing, handling, storage, and shipment of biological specimens for clinical research studies. This individual will ensure laboratory procedures are performed accurately and in compliance with study protocols, Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and applicable regulatory requirements.

In addition to laboratory responsibilities, the Lab Technician will provide support to the Clinical Research Coordinators and Principal Investigators by assisting with select study-related activities to ensure efficient and high-quality study execution.

Essential Responsibilities
Laboratory Responsibilities (Primary)

  • Perform venipuncture and specimen collection for adult and pediatric research participants.
  • Process, centrifuge, aliquot, package, and prepare biological specimens according to study protocols.
  • Coordinate specimen shipment to central laboratories while maintaining chain of custody documentation.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment and ensure calibration, maintenance, and quality control requirements are met.
  • Monitor and document refrigerator, freezer, and laboratory temperature logs.
  • Maintain laboratory inventory, supplies, and ordering of research materials.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, CLIA, GCP, and sponsor-specific laboratory requirements.
  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness and organization while adhering to infection control standards.
  • Assist with laboratory audits and sponsor monitoring visits.

Clinical Research Support (Secondary)

  • Assist Clinical Research Coordinators with participant visits and study procedures.
  • Review source documents for completeness and accuracy.
  • Enter laboratory data into electronic data capture (EDC) systems as needed.
  • Assist with participant scheduling and visit preparation.
  • Prepare source documents, laboratory kits, and study materials.
  • Support regulatory documentation and maintenance of study files.
  • Assist with investigational product accountability when applicable.
  • Help ensure studies remain audit-ready and compliant with sponsor and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with investigators, sponsors, monitors, and the research team to facilitate successful study execution.

Requirements:

Clinical Research Lab Technician Qualifications

Required:

  • Minimum of 2 years of laboratory, phlebotomy, or clinical experience.
  • Strong phlebotomy skills with both adult and pediatric populations.
  • Experience processing and handling laboratory specimens.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Preferred:

  • Previous clinical research experience.
  • Medical Assistant, Laboratory Technician, or Phlebotomy certification.
  • Knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), FDA regulations, and ICH guidelines.
  • Experience with electronic data capture (EDC) systems and clinical trial
    software.
