Job Summary:
The Registered Respiratory Therapist provides high-quality, patient-centered respiratory care across a variety of clinical settings. This role includes performing diagnostic evaluations, administering therapeutic treatments, and managing both invasive and noninvasive ventilation. The therapist plays a critical role in the interdisciplinary care team, ensuring optimal respiratory outcomes and patient safety.
Responsibilities:
- Perform and document patient respiratory assessments (breath sounds, airway status, cuff pressures)
- Conduct diagnostic testing to evaluate respiratory conditions and treatment effectiveness
- Administer respiratory therapies including oxygen, aerosol medications, and chest physiotherapy
- Assist with placement and management of artificial airways
- Initiate, monitor, and manage mechanical ventilation (invasive and noninvasive)
- Monitor patient response and adjust care or escalate concerns as needed
- Respond to emergency situations and support airway management during resuscitation
- Assist in the transport of ventilator-dependent patients
- Collaborate with providers and care teams to optimize patient outcomes
Requirements:
- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) / Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) required
- Associate Degree or vocational training required
- BLS certification required within 30 days of hire
Schedule:
- Full-time
- Mixed shifts (Rotating weekends)
Setting:
- Acute care hospital
- 400+ bed facility
- Level I trauma center with adult and pediatric services
