About the Role:

The Licensed Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner plays a critical role in delivering comprehensive mental health care to diverse patient populations within the healthcare and social assistance sector. This position involves conducting thorough psychiatric assessments, diagnosing mental health conditions, and developing individualized treatment plans that may include medication management and therapeutic interventions. The practitioner collaborates closely with therapists, psychologists, and families to ensure a holistic approach to patient care, promoting recovery and well-being. By integrating clinical expertise with compassionate communication, the role aims to improve patient outcomes and support long-term mental health stability. Ultimately, the Licensed Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner serves as a vital link between patients and multidisciplinary care teams, fostering an environment of trust and effective treatment.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Current and valid license as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in the United States.
  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
  • Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) or equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience working with patients experiencing a range of psychiatric conditions.
  • Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology and evidence-based psychiatric treatment approaches.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working within interdisciplinary mental health teams including therapists and psychologists.
  • Familiarity with family systems therapy and techniques for engaging families in mental health care.
  • Experience in community mental health settings or social assistance programs.
  • Additional certifications in trauma-informed care or substance use disorder treatment.
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and telehealth platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments to diagnose mental health disorders.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans, including prescribing and managing psychotropic medications.
  • Collaborate regularly with therapists, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
  • Engage with patients' families to provide education, support, and involve them in treatment planning when appropriate.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed clinical documentation in compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Stay current with advances in psychiatric nursing and mental health treatment modalities through continuous education.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and adjust care plans accordingly.
