Job Description
Join the Iowa State University Foundation in our mission to engage our community, inspire philanthropy, and steward resources to advance Iowa State University and its impact on Iowa and the world. We are seeking a collaborative, detail-oriented individual to join our gift accounting team.
Requirements:As an essential member of the gift accounting team, the coordinator’s primary function is to ensure the accurate and timely processing of gifts and commitments received by the Iowa State University Foundation.
Core Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Preparing bank deposits and remote deposit checks.
- Reviewing mailroom batches for completeness and accuracy.
- Recording batch information in cash and non-cash logs and assigning batch numbers. Labeling and organizing physical documents to maintain clear audit trails.
- Electronically coding gifts and non-gifts received via mail within 24-48 business hours, assigning the appropriate donor ID and fund based on supporting documentation. This may include contacting donors and internal and external partners.
- Reviewing daily bank statement for incoming ACH and wire transactions.
- Co-management of gift accounting team email inbox including monitoring communications, responding to inquiries, routing requests, and maintaining quality service standards.
- Continuously evaluating procedures to improve efficiency, accuracy, and donor service. Maintaining and updating process documentation and training materials.
- Identifying opportunities to leverage technology, automation, and innovative solutions to enhance team operations. Collaborating with other foundation teams to evaluate, test, and implement process improvements.
Qualifications
Education & Work Experience
- 5-6 years of work experience related to employment area. Education may be substituted for years of work experience.
Desired Skills & Experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Must be adaptable, flexible, and self-directed.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Outlook and Excel) and ability to learn new software.
- Must be able to handle several activities simultaneously with attention to detail and adherence to deadlines and accuracy.
- Must adhere to strict confidentiality standards.
