Job Description
Position Summary
The Shipping & Receiving Lead oversees daily shipping and receiving activities at the Bonita Springs location. This is a hands-on position responsible for coordinating priorities, processing materials and shipments, completing transactions in M2M, maintaining accurate records, and providing daily guidance and training to the shipping and receiving team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Coordinate daily shipping and receiving priorities based on customer needs, production schedules, critical materials, and carrier pickup times.
- Provide daily work direction, training, and support to shipping and receiving employees.
- Prepare outgoing shipments, including picking, packing, labeling, packing slips, and shipping documents.
- Schedule pickups and deliveries with UPS, FedEx, freight carriers, local delivery services, customers, and vendors.
- Complete and verify all shipping transactions in M2M when materials are shipped.
- Receive incoming production and non-inventory materials.
- Confirm the supplier, purchase order, part number, quantity, lot or serial number, packing slip, and condition of received materials.
- Complete receiving transactions on the correct purchase order line in M2M.
- Direct received materials to inventory, inspection, production, hold, or staging areas.
- Receive and process returned materials, including RMAs and outside-processing returns.
- Make sure physical shipments and receipts match the information entered in M2M.
- Investigate and help resolve missing, incorrect, or unposted transactions.
- Monitor materials on the dock, in inspection, in staging, or waiting to ship.
- Maintain accurate shipping, receiving, and traceability records.
- Maintain shipping supplies and request additional supplies when needed.
- Assist with cycle counts and inventory investigations involving shipping, receiving, or staging areas.
- Work with Planning, Purchasing, Customer Service, Quality, Operations, Warehouse, and other departments to resolve issues.
- Keep the work area clean, safe, and organized.
- Follow all company policies, safety procedures, work instructions, and quality requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Make sure employees complete M2M transactions when the physical shipment or receipt occurs.
- Do not allow workarounds that cause differences between physical inventory and M2M.
- Escalate purchase order, sales order, part number, quantity, lot, serial number, location, or system problems.
- Confirm that important shipping and receiving tasks are completed each day.
- Notify management before a delay affects a customer or production commitment.
- Train employees so there is backup coverage for both shipping and receiving duties.
- Three to five years of shipping, receiving, warehouse, inventory control, materials, or related manufacturing experience.
- Previous experience leading, training, or providing daily direction to employees.
- Experience using an ERP system for shipping, receiving, inventory, and material transactions.
- M2M or similar manufacturing ERP experience is preferred.
- Experience with inventory counts, reconciliation, and resolving discrepancies.
- Experience using UPS, FedEx, freight-carrier, and other shipping programs.
- Knowledge of purchase orders, packing slips, sales orders, inventory locations, and lot or serial-number tracking.
- Experience in a regulated manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Basic Microsoft Excel skills.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and support the daily work of others.
- Associate degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Business, or a related field; bachelor’s degree preferred.
- A high school diploma or equivalent with at least five years of related experience and team-lead responsibilities may be considered instead of a degree.
- Forklift certification is required or must be obtained within the company’s qualification period.
- Experience using forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and standard shipping equipment.
- Work is performed in a manufacturing, warehouse, dock, and office environment.
- The position regularly requires standing, walking, sitting, reaching, bending, twisting, and handling materials or equipment.
- Must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
- Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods depending on shift requirements.
- The position may involve moderate noise, moving equipment, fumes, airborne particles, or manufacturing chemicals.
