Job Description
Job Summary: As a key member of the facility management team, the Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for our residents and staff. This position entails thorough cleaning of resident bedrooms upon move-out or discharge, routine sweeping and mopping of the facility, disinfecting of common areas, and general tidying of the facility. The Housekeeper works closely with the Nursing, Behavioral Health Tech, Dietary Manager, and Facility Manager to identify areas that need to be cleaned, disinfected, and tidied up around the facility.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Have a basic understanding of Infection Control and how to eliminate germs from contact surfaces Clean and maintain the cleanliness and appearance of the lobby, dining areas, hallways, common rooms, restrooms, and common areas of the facility.
- Disinfect high-touch surfaces in common areas to prevent the spread of germs and maintain health standards.
- Clean and maintain the appearance of the surrounding areas, including the sidewalks and entrance.
- Remove trash and leaf litter from areas surrounding the building. Cleans all windows (inside and ground floor outside).
- Cleans all floors and floor coverings (including mopping of wood and tile floors).
- Deep cleaning of assigned areas including window washing, light fixtures, and elevator.
- Clean and maintain the laundry room, dining hall, group room building, recreation room, medical building, common area restrooms including employee restrooms.
- Tidy up areas throughout the facility, including organizing magazines, recreation supplies/equipment, straightening furniture, and disposing of trash.
- Have knowledge of Safety Data Sheets and proper handling of chemicals.
- Be able to manage a cleaning cart when necessary, and ensure the safety and oversight of chemicals for the protection of clients and staff.
- Get assignments, keys, and special requests from your supervisor at the beginning of your shift.
- Check and replenish your supplies and cleaning tools.
- Perform daily sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming of the facility, including common areas, hallways, and restrooms.
- Maintain cleaning equipment and supplies, reporting malfunctions or issues and keeping an inventory of supplies as well as ordering supplies.
Qualifications:
- Experience in housekeeping or janitorial services preferred.
- Understanding of cleaning techniques and disinfection practices.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Physical stamina and mobility, including the ability to reach, kneel, and bend.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull (approximately 30 lbs.)
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED (preferred).
- Previous housekeeping experience.
- Knowledge of cleaning and disinfection protocols.
- Customer service experience.
