Job Summary:
The International Logistics Specialist manages end-to-end import operations with a focus on air freight, broker coordination, and SAP execution. This role ensures compliant, on-time, and cost-effective movement of goods into the U.S., maintaining accurate documentation, proactive stakeholder communication, and seamless handoffs across internal teams and external partners.
Duties/Responsibilities:
Import Operations
• Plan, book, and track Air and ocean freight imports from pickup through final delivery; monitor milestones and proactively resolve delays/exceptions.
• Prepare, collect, and validate import documentation: commercial invoices, packing lists, HAWB/MAWB, arrival notices, certificates of origin, HS codes, country of origin, and Incoterms®.
• Coordinate with Customs Brokers to transmit entry data, resolve classification questions, and clear shipments; ensure accurate HTSUS coding, valuation, and special program claims when applicable.
• Verify import compliance requirements (PGA/OGA flags, agency holds, EPA reviews, etc.) and escalate when needed.
Compliance & Controls
• Ensure adherence to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and basic awareness of EAR/ITAR requirements.
• Maintain document retention and audit readiness per regulatory and company policy.
• Support EEI/AES filings when applicable and validate data accuracy with carriers and brokers.
• Partner with internal teams on HS classification, country-of-origin verification, and import control requirements.
Carrier and Broker Management
• Coordinate daily with freight forwarders, airlines, and Customs Brokers to ensure service-level compliance.
• Request spot quotes and optimize routings based on cost, transit, and service reliability.
• Participate in performance reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
Required Skills/Abilities:
• 3–5 years of international logistics experience, specifically imports and air freight.
• Strong experience working with Customs Brokers and understanding U.S. import regulations (CBP, HTSUS, valuation, compliance).
• SAP experience required, especially with inbound deliveries, GR, and freight reconciliation.
• Strong understanding of HS classification, country of origin, and basic PGA/OGA requirements.
• Experience with EEI/AES processes and routed vs. standard shipments.
• Proficient in Excel and transportation/broker platforms.
• Excellent communication skills and high attention to detail.
Education:
• Bachelor’s degree is preferred in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, International Business, Business Administration, or a related field.
• Associate degree with relevant logistics experience will be considered.
• Additional training or coursework in U.S. Customs regulations, International Trade Compliance, or Transportation Management is a plus.
