Job Summary:
The shipping and receiving coordinator is responsible for overseeing all inbound and outbound shipping activities to ensure accurate, timely, and cost-effective movement of materials and finished goods. This position coordinates transportation, manages freight costs, resolves carrier issues, and supervises shipping and receiving personnel. The Coordinator serves as the primary point of contact for carriers, customers, and internal departments regarding shipping and receiving operations.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
· Hires and trains shipping/receiving clerk, shipping clerk, and receiving coordinator.
· Organizes and oversees all functions of the Shipping & Receiving Department.
· Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
· Handles employee performance, discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
· Coordinate and arrange domestic and international shipments utilizing customer-designated carriers or company approved carries.
· Schedule and manage less-than-truckload (LTL), Full truckload (FTL), parcel, expedited, and specialized freight shipments.
· Arrange freight transportation directly with customers, freight brokers, and carriers as required.
· Ensure shipments meet customer delivery requirements and company objectives.
· Prepare shipping documentation including bills of lading, packing slips, labels, and carrier paperwork.
· Monitor shipment status and proactively resolve transportation issues.
· Manage relationships with carriers and transportation provides to ensure cost effective and reliable shipping services.
· Negotiate freight rates, review & approve inbound and outbound freight invoices.
· Comply with all of the International Shipping and Trade compliance requirements.
· Investigate any freight invoices, damages/loss, shortages, and file claim with appropriate company.
· Utilize various company websites to navigate the shipping documents that are needed.
· Ensure all documentation for domestic and international shipments are accurate, correct, and presented timely.
· Track and adjust inventory in warehouse.
Requirements:Required Skills/Abilities:
· Ability to accurately sort, count, and verify items received.
· Basic understanding of dock, and warehouse procedures.
· Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and/or inventory software to maintain records, input data, and create reports.
· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
· Extensive knowledge of export regulations and procedures.
· Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
· Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
· Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
· Proficiency with computerized distribution systems.
Education and Experience:
· High school diploma or equivalent required.
· Two to five years of experience in a shipping warehouse preferred.
Physical Requirements:
· Must be able to traverse distribution warehouse and access a variety of storage spaces and shelving units by stretching, squatting, and reaching.
· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
· Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions and temperatures in the warehouse and on the loading dock.
· Must be able to operate and drive various forklifts.
Full Time Position; Hours: 6:30 am - 3:00 pm.
