Job Description

General Position Summary and Purpose:

The Mortgage Support Assistant (MSA) supports all types of residential mortgage applications with accuracy and completeness to ensure a seamless process and a quality mortgage loan portfolio. The MSA issues initial disclosures, orders items for processing, reviews approved loans to ensure all underwriting conditions are met, reviews title related documents prior to closing, and issues clear to close. The MSA will work with the Lenders, the loan customers and the underwriter to make sure that the loan is complete from start to finish. The positions works closely with outside closing agents to prepare all required closing documentation for various mortgage loans.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Orders underwriting documentation based on specific loan program guidelines and Bank policies. Monitors status of all outstanding verifications, appraisals and legal work. Enters completed verification and appraisal information into LOS and clears conditions as necessary and/or provides updated information to underwriter.

Prepares initial disclosures for all types of residential mortgage request. Works with customer to obtain items needed to submit to Underwriting. Reviews documents for accuracy and completes a pre-underwriting review of the file.

Serves as a point of contact for the customer if the LO is unavailable.

Reviews legal work and communicates any issues Underwriting/and or the Loan Originator.

Provides assistance to Managers, Loan Originators and Loan Operation staff as needed.

Prepares initial CD and closing package


Skills/Abilities:

Excellent organizational skills, attention to details and a capability to work with deadlines, to prioritize the workflow, and respond to shifting priorities

Proficient computer software skills
