Manager, Product Engineering

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Manager, Product Engineering based in United States.

The Manager, Product Engineering will lead a high-performing engineering team while contributing directly to the design, development, and evolution of innovative software solutions. This role combines technical leadership, people management, and hands-on engineering expertise to deliver scalable, reliable products. The position requires close collaboration with Product teams to align engineering priorities with business goals and customer needs. The ideal candidate will inspire engineers, improve development practices, and foster a culture of quality, learning, and continuous improvement. Working in a collaborative and entrepreneurial environment, this leader will help shape both the technology roadmap and the growth of the engineering organization. Accountabilities:

The Manager, Product Engineering is responsible for driving engineering excellence through strong technical guidance, team leadership, and effective collaboration across departments. This role ensures successful product delivery while developing engineering talent, improving processes, and maintaining high-quality standards.

  • Lead and support an engineering team by setting priorities, managing performance, coaching team members, and supporting career development.
  • Own the success of both the engineering team and assigned products by driving measurable improvements in delivery, quality, and efficiency.
  • Partner closely with Product leadership to align engineering initiatives, product requirements, and business objectives.
  • Establish and maintain effective engineering practices, including quality standards, testing strategies, and continuous improvement processes.
  • Provide hands-on technical leadership by contributing to the codebase, reviewing solutions, and guiding architectural decisions.
  • Lead collaborative software design sessions and encourage scalable, maintainable, and innovative solutions.
  • Support hiring efforts, team growth, and the development of a collaborative engineering culture.
  • Drive improvements across development workflows, tools, and technologies to enhance team productivity.
  • Ensure products are effectively supported through strong engineering ownership and operational excellence.
  • Solve complex technical challenges while promoting a positive user experience and strong business outcomes.
Requirements:

The ideal candidate brings a strong background in software engineering, technical leadership, and team management. This role requires a balance of hands-on development experience, strategic thinking, and the ability to mentor and inspire engineering teams.

  • 5+ years of experience as a full-stack Software Engineer.
  • 3+ years of experience managing engineering teams or technical professionals.
  • Experience designing and delivering robust, scalable software solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of modern cloud-native development practices, including Docker, Kubernetes, and related technologies.
  • Experience with unit testing, integration testing, and software quality practices.
  • Experience leading collaborative engineering design sessions and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Expertise with version control systems, distributed architectures, and microservices.
  • Experience developing web-based applications and working with database technologies and patterns.
  • Strong understanding of software engineering principles, including SOLID principles and design patterns.
  • Ability to lead through mentorship, coaching, and technical guidance.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Adaptable, self-motivated, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining focus on business and customer needs.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
  • Availability to work standard business hours, with occasional evenings, weekends, and travel for team events as needed.
