Summary of Responsibilities:
The Housekeeper is responsible for maintaining a clean, sanitary, safe, and comfortable environment throughout the personal care home community. This position performs routine housekeeping and cleaning services in resident rooms, bathrooms, common areas, offices, dining areas, and other assigned spaces in accordance with Company standards, infection control procedures, applicable federal and state regulations, and industry best practices.
The Housekeeper supports resident quality of life by promoting a clean and welcoming environment while maintaining professionalism, dignity, and respect in all resident interactions. The position requires attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work effectively in an active healthcare and residential environment.
Essential Functions/ Duties:
Essential duties may include, but are not limited to:
- Clean and sanitize resident rooms, bathrooms, offices, hallways, common areas, dining rooms, and other assigned areas in accordance with established cleaning schedules and infection control procedures.
- Dust, sweep, mop, vacuum, wash windows, polish furniture, and perform general cleaning duties.
- Empty trash receptacles and properly dispose of waste in accordance with Company procedures and safety standards.
- Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces and healthcare-related areas to reduce infection risks.
- Replenish supplies including soap, paper products, toiletries, and cleaning materials as needed.
- Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, damaged equipment, or environmental concerns promptly to leadership.
- Follow proper procedures for handling linens, biohazard materials, cleaning chemicals, and hazardous substances.
- Assist with room preparation and cleaning for resident admissions, transfers, discharges, and room turnovers.
- Maintain housekeeping carts, equipment, storage areas, and cleaning supplies in a clean and organized manner.
- Follow all infection control procedures, OSHA standards, hazard communication requirements, and PPE guidelines.
- Interact professionally and respectfully with residents, families, visitors, vendors, and employees.
- Support emergency cleaning needs, spill response, and outbreak or infection control cleaning procedures as directed.
- Assist with maintaining compliance with Department of Human Services (DHS) personal care home regulations and Company cleanliness standards.
- Participate in community safety, emergency preparedness, and disaster response activities as assigned.
Other Duties:
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Skills/ Abilities:
- Knowledge of basic housekeeping, sanitation, and infection control practices.
- Ability to safely use housekeeping equipment, cleaning chemicals, and related supplies.
- Ability to follow cleaning schedules, procedures, and safety instructions.
- Ability to maintain attention to detail and cleanliness standards.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple assignments efficiently.
- Ability to maintain professionalism and interact respectfully with residents, families, visitors, vendors, and employees.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and protect resident information in accordance with HIPAA and Company standards.
- Ability to recognize and report safety hazards, maintenance concerns, or infection control issues promptly.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented healthcare environment.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent. (Required)
- Previous housekeeping, environmental services, hospitality, healthcare, senior living, or long-term care experience (Preferred)
- Experience working in healthcare or residential environments (Preferred)
Work Authorization/ Clearances:
- Criminal History Clearances
- FBI fingerprint clearance (if required)
- Pre-employment drug screening (if applicable)
- Proof of eligibility to work in the United States
Physical Requirements and Physical Demands:
- Full-time or part-time based on operational and community needs.
- Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
