This role serves as a field-based expert in reimbursement, patient access, coding, and coverage for infectious disease therapies.
You will help healthcare providers navigate complex payer requirements and patient support resources to facilitate timely access to treatment.
The position partners closely with hospitals, academic medical centers, infectious disease specialists, pharmacies, and other healthcare stakeholders.
You will support patients across inpatient and outpatient settings while helping address reimbursement barriers throughout the access journey.
The role combines field expertise, relationship building, data analysis, and cross-functional collaboration across healthcare functions.
You will monitor evolving payer policies and access trends while identifying opportunities to improve the overall customer experience.

- Serve as the subject matter expert for access, coding, coverage, and reimbursement for assigned therapeutic products within the designated geography.
- Educate healthcare providers on patient access processes, payer requirements, reimbursement pathways, and available support resources.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with infectious disease physicians, hospital case management teams, discharge planners, pharmacists, and other healthcare stakeholders involved in patient access.
- Provide ongoing support to healthcare providers regarding benefits verification, prior authorizations, appeals, financial assistance, and other access or reimbursement questions.
- Partner with HUB and Patient Services teams to support and monitor the patient journey from enrollment through therapy initiation.
- Collaborate with Sales, Market Access, Patient Support, Medical Affairs, Compliance, Marketing, and Operations to provide coordinated support and enhance the customer experience.
- Use analytics dashboards to identify potential reimbursement barriers and monitor access experiences across the assigned geography.
- Maintain detailed and timely documentation of field activities and customer interactions within CRM systems.
- Monitor local and national access trends, payer policy changes, coverage developments, and emerging reimbursement challenges.
- Participate in team meetings, calls, training sessions, and regional or national sales meetings as appropriate.
- Ensure all field activities and customer interactions are conducted in accordance with applicable healthcare regulations, internal policies, and compliance requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree required; an advanced degree such as an MBA or healthcare-related degree is preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of overall healthcare industry experience within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, specialty pharmacy, hospital, payer, reimbursement, patient services, nursing, case management, or related healthcare environments.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Field Access Manager, Field Reimbursement Manager, Patient Access Liaison, or in an equivalent field-based patient access role.
- Demonstrated experience educating healthcare providers on coding, reimbursement, and patient access processes across specialty prescribers, hospitals, academic medical centers, and pharmacies.
- Strong knowledge of payer policies and coverage criteria for Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial insurance.
- Direct experience supporting patient access and transitions between inpatient and outpatient care settings.
- Strong working knowledge of HUB services, co-pay programs, patient assistance programs, and reimbursement processes.
- Experience supporting oncology or HIV therapies is strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to collaborate cross-functionally, particularly with Sales and Market Access teams.
- Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage complex access needs across a large geographic territory.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and CRM systems.
- Ability and willingness to travel extensively, approximately 60%–80% of the time, including overnight travel.
- Ability to work independently in a field-based environment while maintaining strong collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
- Base compensation range of $190,000–$210,000 per year.
- Actual compensation may vary based on experience, skills, knowledge, performance, work requirements, internal equity, and business or economic conditions.
