Job Description
Position Description: Position Summary
We are seeking a hands-on Facilities Lead who takes ownership, acts with urgency, and ensures issues are resolved from start to finish. This role is responsible for troubleshooting facility problems, coordinating vendors and repairs, and supporting the day-to-day needs of a fast-paced operation. The ideal candidate is proactive, dependable, and communicates clearly while maintaining a safe, organized, efficient, and production-ready facility. Fluency in English and Spanish is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, assign, and prioritize daily maintenance, facility, housekeeping, and warehouse-support tasks.
- Perform routine repairs involving doors, locks, shelving, fixtures, walls, flooring, plumbing components, lighting, carts, racks, and other facility equipment.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, building, and operational issues using practical testing methods, manuals, and available tools.
- Complete preventive maintenance inspections and scheduled service tasks.
- Respond promptly to leaks, equipment failures, damaged fixtures, safety hazards, and facility interruptions.
- Secure unsafe areas, make appropriate temporary corrections, and escalate work requiring licensed trades or specialized vendors.
- Coordinate contractors and vendors, including approvals, facility access, work monitoring, and completion verification.
- Train and coach employees in English and Spanish on work methods, safety procedures, and performance expectations.
- Monitor work quality, provide clear direction, and address performance or safety concerns promptly.
- Maintain accurate work orders, inspection records, maintenance logs, parts usage, and follow-up items.
- Inspect interior and exterior areas for damage, sanitation concerns, trip hazards, blocked access, improper storage, and other unsafe conditions.
- Maintain tools, spare parts, keys, ladders, safety equipment, and maintenance supplies in clean, organized, and serviceable condition.
- Support warehouse operations, including loading and unloading, pallet building, material movement, internal requests, and operation of approved equipment.
- Coordinate maintenance activities with production, procurement, security, compliance, and other departments.
- Enforce PPE, ladder safety, chemical handling, forklift, lockout/tagout, and other company safety procedures.
- Follow all applicable cannabis-industry security, inventory, access-control, and compliance requirements.
- Participate in emergency response, after-hours calls, or schedule changes when required by business needs.
Required Skills and Abilities
- Required - Fluent verbal and written communication in English and Spanish.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to safely use common hand and power tools.
- Working knowledge of general building maintenance, including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, patching, hardware, and equipment repair.
- Ability to inspect, diagnose, repair, adjust, assemble, install, and maintain facility or warehouse equipment.
- Strong leadership, training, coaching, and accountability skills.
- Ability to organize competing priorities and make sound decisions under pressure.
- Strong follow-through, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read safety rules, equipment manuals, diagrams, labels, and written procedures.
- Basic computer skills, including email, spreadsheets, work-order systems, inventory systems, and digital recordkeeping.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate across departments in a fast-paced, regulated environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Technical, mechanical, facilities, or skilled-trades training preferred.
- Three or more years of experience in facilities maintenance, building maintenance, mechanical repair, manufacturing support, warehouse operations, or a related field.
- At least one year of experience leading daily work, training employees, or coordinating team assignments.
- Experience in manufacturing, distribution, cultivation, food production, or another regulated environment preferred.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Forklift certification preferred; must be able to obtain required equipment certifications.
- Valid driver authorization will be required for company vehicle use.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, kneeling, climbing, and use of hand or power tools.
- Frequent lifting and carrying of up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to work indoors and outdoors in areas with noise, dust, odors, temperature changes, wet surfaces, equipment traffic, and production activity.
- Must wear required PPE and comply with all safety, security, and access-control procedures.
